I’m not dead yet!

Is it irony that my most popular post on this blog is about motivation when I, myself, have motivation problems? Or is it just a really good post?

I doubt either is true.

Where have I been? Well, same old thing from last year. Nightmare Paper Round 2 is eating my soul, currently, but is more or less on schedule, a point I never reached last semester. So it’s become one of those “Well, if I have time to Blog, I have time to research.” And then I watch Breaking Bad.

Motivation, you are a bitter pill I just can not swallow.

But that’s not to say that all has fallen on the wayside. My NaNoWriMo 2011 entry, which was left out in the woods at a paltry 8k words has somehow found its way home, and I’ve decided to give it more love. Now, it’s grown from 8k of gibberish to 20k of “Hey, I might actually have something here.” Which is nice. I’ve also started notes on further episodes of my story, in case I come up with something that I can use for this current story. So far, it’s helped me flesh out one character more than I expected from them. Heck, I’ve even un-killed two bandits and decided to flesh them out into a duo of reluctant criminals. Might be cliche, but it’s hard to write 200 pages using only four characters and the monster. And having the whole thing take place in the same forest for 90% of it. So we’ll see what I can get from throwing in more specialized people. Maybe my big “everyone shows up at the same time and there is conflict” could not be the climax, but leading toward something more.

But at the moment, I’m sitting in class (the nightmare paper class, actually), writing this blog post. And while the story is becoming a nice little novella, it’s not exactly at the front of the priority line until I finish the schoolwork. I’ll try to update more in the future, but no promises.

Also, I can’t remember if I’ve done a shout-out to her before, but I’ll do it again. A friend of mine from highschool, who is also a writer (and probably better at it than I am), has a nice little blog that she works on. I’m so very proud of her, and I hope she knows that. So here’s my friend Kristin’s blog. http://kristinmcfarland.com/

Give her a look.

Well, the teacher’s trying to talk to me, so I’ll have to close. Bye, people. And I will return.

Well, before I leave, let me ask: Which types of posts do you readers enjoy? The Frankensteining posts? The Writing Playlists? Or should I branch out a bit. What would you like me to post about? Just curious.

    Aw, shucks.

Seriously, though, thanks. I’m having one of *those* days, and this gave me a boost.
